1600PennWatch is now hiring people to join our staff! Here is a listing and description of the jobs we are hiring for. At this time, all positions are unpaid.

Deputy Editor-In-Chief

The Deputy Editor-In-Chief will have a wide range of responsibilities, including

  • Managing the day-to-day operations of the site
  • Ensuring that all relevant material is written and published on the site
  • Assisting the Editor-In-Chief with supervising all other editors and writers
  • Sitting on the Editorial Board
  • Other duties as assigned

Social Media Editor

The social media editor will be responsible for the following

  • Maintaining the 1600PennWatch Twitter account
  • Compiling, editing, and publishing the weekly email
  • Supervising all people within the social media department
  • Other duties as assigned

General Editor (2)

The general editors will both be responsible for the following

  • Doing the majority of the editing on the site
  • Assisting the deputy EIC in supervising writers
  • Each will rotate with the social media editor on the Editorial Board
  • Finding and assigning news pieces to writers
  • Other duties as assigned

 Senior White House Correspondent

The senior White House correspondent will be our lead writer and will be responsible for the following

  • Will have first dibs on articles to be written
  • Writing quality pieces that are in line with our standards
  • Rotate on the editorial board with the Junior correspondents
  • Other duties as assigned

Junior White House Correspondent (3)

The junior White House correspondents will be responsible for the following

  • Writing quality pieces that are in line with our standards
  • Assisting other writers and editors with research for articles
  • Writing at least one article per week, unless prior arrangements are made
  • Rotate on the editorial board with the senior correspondent and other junior correspondents
  • Other duties as assigned
