UNITED STATES — Multiple reports on Wednesday night indicated that former Utah governor Jon Huntsman Jr. has accepted an offer to be named the United States Ambassador to Russia. The White House declined comment on the report.

Huntsman Jr. is the former US Ambassador to Singapore (1992-1993), governor of Utah (2005-2009), and most recently was the US Ambassador to China (2009-2011). He also ran an unsuccessful bid for the GOP nomination in 2012.

The news comes as rumors circulate on just how much communication the Trump campaign and transition had with Russia and more rumors about possible Russian interference in the 2016 Presidential Elections.
