UNITED STATES — Former President George H.W. Bush has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at Houston Methodist Hospital, according to a statement from his office.
The 41st president was admitted to the hospital overnight for pneumonia, but this morning he developed an acute respiratory problem that required him to be admitted to the ICU.
“Shortly after our previous report on President Bush’s condition, he was admitted to the ICU at Houston Methodist Hosptial to address an acute respiratory problem stemming from pneumonia.” Read a statement from his office. “Doctors performed a procedure to protect and clear his airway that required sedation. President Bush is stable and resting comfortably in the ICU, where he will remain for observation.
“Additionally, Mrs. Bush was admitted to the Houston Methodist Hospital this morning as a precaution after experiencing fatigue and coughing.”
