UNITED STATES — This past week, the GOP-led Congress began taking steps to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA), which provided low-cost health insurance to millions of people, while also allowing those with pre-existing medical conditions to receive insurance that they wouldn’t have been able to receive otherwise.
This would be ok if they had a replacement immediately ready, but alas, there is no plan in place to replace it, which would leave millions of Americans in the cold when it comes to health insurance.
This is simply unacceptable. The GOP aren’t thinking before doing this, and are on the verge of unleashing a massive disaster on the American public. We call on the US House of Representatives to refrain from passing these measures, at least until there is a suitable replacement plan on the table.
We can not allow the poorest Americans to be left without any health insurance. We challenge the Republican party to show that they understand what they are doing, and to demonstrate that they have a plan to replace the ACA. If the don’t, then voters will remember this in two years when it’s time for the next round of elections.
