Today, President Obama and the U.S. Government announced wide-ranging sanctions against Russia in response to the hacking of the Democratic National Committee. These sanctions include expelling 35 Russian diplomats from the country, as well as shutting down two Russian compounds in the United States.

We approve of these sanctions and commend President Obama for taking a stand against unprecedented meddling in our sacred presidential election system. We encourage him and the intelligence community to continue to collect intelligence to determine if anybody else was involved in this action.

Furthermore, we call on President-Elect Trump, who has repeatedly doubted that Russia really hacked the election, to publicly support the sanctions, and we encourage President-Elect Trump to not overturn the sanctions once he takes office next month.
